Remeron
Remeron is a
tetracyclic antidepressant used to treat depression. Remeron
may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by
your doctor.Remeron (mirtazapine) is an antidepressant,

YOU MISS A DOSE OF Remeron, take it as soon as possible. If
it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2
doses at once.Remeron comes as a tablet and as a
disintegrating tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken
once a day at bedtime. It may be taken with or without food.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully,
and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do
not understand. Take Remeron exactly as directed. Do not
take more or less of it or take it more often than
prescribed by your doctor.
To take a Remeron disintegrating tablet, open the blister
pack with dry hands and place the tablet on your tongue. The
tablet will disintegrate on the tongue and can be swallowed
with saliva. No water is needed to swallow disintegrating
tablets. Once the tablet is removed from the blister pack,
it cannot be stored. Do not split Remeron disintegrating
tablets.
Continue to take Remeron even if you feel well. Do not stop
taking Remeron without talking to your doctor, especially if
you have taken large doses for a long time. Your doctor
probably will decrease your dose gradually. This drug must
be taken regularly for a few weeks before its full effect is
felt.
Remeron Side
Effects
SIDE EFFECTS,
that may go away during treatment, include drowsiness,
weakness, dizziness, dry mouth, increased appetite, weight
gain, or constipation. If they continue or are bothersome,
check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not
listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Precautions
IT MAY TAKE 1 to
4 WEEKS for remeron to work. Do not stop using Remeron
without checking with your doctor. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE
MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until
you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine
alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your
ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous
tasks. THIS MEDICINE WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and
other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions
about which medicines are depressants. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR
IMMEDIATELY if you experience a sore throat, fever, or sore
mouth or gums. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE,
either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your
doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING
PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of
using Remeron during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS
MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE
BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with
your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Remeron
Overdose
Present
experience (although still limited) concerning overdose with
Remeron alone indicates that symptoms are usually mild.
Depression of the central nervous system with disorientation
and prolonged sedation have been reported, together with
tachycardia and mild hyper-or hypotension.
Cases of overdose should be treated by gastric lavage with
appropriate symptomatic and supportive therapy for vital
functions.
